Review: IT FOLLOWS, By Joe Bannerman, Kindle Edtion

By: Joe Bannerman

I found out about this book by pure coincidence. I follow Mike White, a film critic and author on Twitter. He had tweeted that he had just finished editing his friend’s book of short stories; titled “IT FOLLOWS.”

The cover art really had my interest, illustrated in a retro 50’s horror comic look. Based on the cover art alone I thought I would give it a chance.

What I was happy to find out is that this book is not only extremely well written but one hell of a fun ride.

Mr. Bannerman states in his intro that the goal of this collection is to entertain he doesn’t try to be pretentious about the real underlying messages of these 5 stories. Some critics argue there is much more to his writing then face value, but in the end it’s all up to the reader to decide.

This slim volume is a great ride from start to finish. An apocalyptic tale of aliens, a moving Lovecraft inspired story, an undead humor piece, a ghostly serial killer, and an action-packed alien story make for a varied roller coaster ride of wit, fear, and, above all, pure entertainment.

One of the best things about this book is its only .99 cents on Amazon’s Kindle store. There isn’t a whole lot of anything of substance you can buy for less than a dollar these days, my recommendation buy this book NOW!
