Book Review: THE HELPLESS DOORKNOB by Edward Gorey (pure, pure genius)

The Edward Gorey Charitable Trust has resurrected a little known gem that shows off the genius of the genius that was the immortal Edward Gorey.

Housed in a small thin box is the "shuffled story". A story made up of 20 beautifully illustrated cards with simple text but story that possesses 2,452,902,069,736,640,000 different shuffled possibilities, so says the publisher.

It is a challenge I relished to take and once spread across my plate I was addicted. Combination after combination yielded an interesting and entertaining different tale. It is fun. It is refreshing and it ingenious.

Published by Pomegranate Communications this creation can serve both as literature and as a game for all ages.

This is the essence of literature, to bring enjoyment and thought. This is a finely tuned piece of writing. This is available in places where fine volumes are sold.

Buy it.
